Standard 1.1 Shared Vision
Candidates facilitate the development and implementation of a shared vision for the use of technology in teaching, learning, and leadership.

Reflection:
The artifact that I have chosen for this standard is the vision statement that was written for the class ISTE 7410, the very first semester in the instructional technology program. This artifact shows my shared vision for the use of technology in teaching, learning, and leadership. Through the research and writing of this project it shows the importance of having a vision for technology at my school.
My vision paper shows master of the PSC Standard 1.1, candidates facilitate the development and implementation of a shared vision for the use of technology in teaching, learning, and leadership. In my vision I discussed how technology leaders and administrators must set forth a plan of how they would like technology used at their school. Some of the things that administrators and teachers must see occurring in the classroom are problem solving skills, collaboration, research, and creativity. Two key factors in my vision is to use ISTE standards to determine what guidelines you’d like teachers to be using with technology and providing good professional development on technology use in the classroom for teachers. For instance, ISTE states that you must have trained professionals and ongoing training for those professionals to have a successful technology plan (ISTE, 2008).
After completing this assignment I had a good understanding of how to plan and implement a vision. The research provided me with a plan and understanding of how a vision should be established. Once the plan has been set and implemented then it must be assessed. Creighton states that assessing teachers can identify their technology development needs as well as improve their performance (Creighton, 2003). This assignment helped me to understand how the flow of designing a good vision, implementing it and assessing it should occur.
Although I have been working in this field for over twenty years, I was not formally trained in my field. This paper gave me a lot of information that I can use as an instructional technologist but after reviewing it at the end of my school experience, I saw it needed many changes. My vision was very vague and needs more of a concrete goal. For instance, instead of just saying that my vision was to make sure that we have a specific plan for integrating technology into the classroom, I would just have the plan laid out. The vision I would write now would articulate that it is our plan to provide teachers with Macbooks, training and support in the classroom.
