Standard 1.3 requires the candidate to show mastery of how to research, recommend, and implement policies, procedures, programs, and funding strategies to support implementation of the shared vision represented in the school, district, state, and federal technology plans and guidelines. I chose the Action Evaluation Plan for my artifact because it covers all the aspects of this standard. This project was completed in the Technology Leadership class to help the student learn to set goals for increased technology use after analyzing the schools technology plan in the strengths, weakness, opportunities and threats analysis. Based on the needs of analyzing the school’s data, the Action Evaluation Plan is designed to help students design strategies, a timeline, establish a budget, and create personnel assignments for the school’s technology improvement plan.
When working on the eight points of the SWOT, strengths, weaknesses, outcomes and treats, analysis, it enabled me to see Darlington School’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats to our technology implementation and develop a plan for technology improvement creating strategies, a timeline, a cost analysis of the plan and people who would be involved in implementing this plan. I analyzed all the teacher’s skills and abilities to be able to integrate technology into the classroom successfully and identified those that may have trouble. I took those lists and came up with ideas such as, sending teachers to conferences, meeting with teachers one on one and the creation of a Technology Integration Team committee to help improve our weaknesses. Once these points were analyzed, I decided which teachers I would send to conferences and did a cost analysis on how much I needed to budget to send them. By analyzing all these factors in the Action Evaluation plan for Darlington School, it helped me to understand how to implement a technology improvement plan and how to budget for that plan.
After developing this plan for my school, I was able to take it to administrators to show them how we could use this idea to continue with our one to one program and what we needed to accomplish in order for it to continue to be successful. By having the break down with goals, budgeting items and faculty assignments, the implementation of the plan was easy and successful.
