Reflection:
I chose 2 artifacts to show mastery of standard 3.7, utilizing digital communication and collaboration tools to communicate locally and globally with students, parents, peers, and the larger community. I chose my school's Information Technology Blog and my Twitter, which I feel has been one of my biggest successes in communication to my parents, peers and other teachers around the world.
The first artifact shows mastery of this standard because it shows many blogs that I posted to help our parents and community aware of what is going on at Darlington School. As we implemented our one to one program it was important to communicate with the parents and community about the one to one and things they should know. For instance we felt that writing the 21st century skills for Darlington School was important, so we used the blog to communicate the skill set. http://www.darlingtonschool.org/daily/blogView.aspx?ID=2985591&page=3&schoolyear=
I also wrote blogs directly to students and parents with video technology tips to help them with their MacBooks http://www.darlingtonschool.org/daily/blogView.aspx?ID=2666736&page=3&schoolyear= These blogs gave me the opportunity to help parents and students feel they could come to me at any point with questions and concerns they may have about technology. It helped me to develop a relationship with parents, students and the Darlington School community by posting new ideas about technology, technology tips and other activities that were happening in the IT department.
Another idea that I had was to blog on digital citizenship. Many parents had expressed their concerns with their students having devices at home and they wanted to know what they could do to help at home. By blogging about it on many occasions, I was able to develop a good relationship with parents thereby helping them to feel comfortable to contact me with any questions or concerns. Here are some more examples of these opportunities:

Another example of mastery of this standard is my Twitter. This artifact gives me digital communication and collaboration on a global level by allowing me to connect to teachers all over the world. This twitter account has allowed me to not only tweet about things going on at Darlington School to connect with parents and students but also has allowed me to learn new technology integration ideas from other teachers across the globe. I have made many new friends and developed a very large Personal Learning Network that I can discuss and learn new ideas to use in a 21st century classroom. I also love twitter because I can share what is going on at Darlington, give other teachers new ideas to use in their classroom and gain more knowledge for providing more professional development for my teachers.
These artifacts have impacted my school and career in many ways. The school's blog has given me a direct connection with parents and students at Darlington school. By providing them with frequent blogs about our one to one program, digital citizenship and technology tips it has helped me to develop a relationship so they feel comfortable coming directly to me for any questions, concerns or comments. The twitter account has allowed me to make many new connections in my field and gain new ideas for technology integration. This has really impacted the school because I have been able to help with more curriculum ideas as well as help them with our new blended learning model.
