Reflection:
For standard 1.4, students must research, recommend, and implement strategies for initiating and sustaining technology innovations and for managing the change process in schools. I chose the artifact from ITEC 7410, One-year Action Evaluation Plan to show mastery of this standard. This artifact shows that by researching several improvement plans and the school’s current technology state, goals can be set with the points of strategies, timeline, budget and faculty responsibility.
When researching and analyzing Darlington School’s technology plan, I was able to see what strategies needed to be implemented to improve their technology use at the school. I was able to recommend different ideas and approaches to use in order to guide Darlington School into goals that will improve their technology use and training.
By completing this Action Plan I was able to use Darlington’s current technology plan and apply it to the SWOT analysis. After completing this analysis, then I was able to break it down in this action plan. The standard states that a student should implement strategies for initiating and sustaining technology innovations and for managing the change process in schools. This project gave me the understanding of how to research what was needed at my school for a successful one to one program. I first analyzed and researched what teachers were currently doing in the classrooms. I then did research from other one to one programs as well as reading books and articles on how to be successful with a one to one program. I was then able to see clearly what our teachers were doing and make suggestions for improvement. One recommendation for Darlington’s teachers was to meet one on one with each of them to assess their level of technology use in the classroom and make suggestions for improvement or give affirmation of successes. This is important because each teacher will get the special attention they need to be successful with technology use in the classroom. In this artifact it shows that I planned meetings, improving professional development, and creating committees to help improved technology use and integration at Darlington school. I was able to take this project and complete all of these items at Darlington school, implementing new ideas and change. I developed a 21st century skill set for Darlington, helped faculty learn how they should implement these skills, provide online training materials and other professional development to improve our technology use.
This artifact helped me to learn how to research school or technology improvement plans, make recommendations on how to make more improvements, budget and implement those improvements.
