Technology has been a big part of my life since 1984 when I took computer math. I knew then that it would be a big part of my life. My first computer was a tan box that just had 2 floppy drives and cost as much as a nice car but I loved and cherished it. I went on to get my associates degree in computer technology but decided I wanted to go to law school so I got my bachelors degree in political science. I never used that degree other than working for Roy Barnes and then they put me straight in the IT department instead of politics. I decided then that's where I needed to be. Over the past 22 years I have progressed in IT and branched into education for the last 12 years of my career.
Technology in education has been so rewarding to me and my own personal use of technology has grow to a maximum. I love technology and the most fun part is sharing it with students. They have taught me so much and I learn from them everyday. My personal use of technology has grown from just a desktop computer to many devices. I love testing out new products not only for my personal use but to see how it can be used in the classroom. Today I have a personal laptop, iPad, iPhone, apple TV and not to mention many other devices I have successfully implemented in the classroom.
What's so rewarding is to actually show a teacher how to use a device and have the teacher tell me he/she sees a real difference in their class since they've been using it. Education and my own personal use of technology have become so intertwined. Since I work at a boarding school, the school has become a big part of my life personally and professionally.
